Why travel advice is individual
Recommendations depend on more than a country name. Risk varies by region, season, trip length, rural or urban setting, accommodation, work, visiting friends and relatives, planned activities and access to medical care.
The clinician also considers age, pregnancy, immune-system conditions, allergies, long-term conditions and regular medicines. Two people taking the same flight may need different advice.
Vaccinations and timing
Some travel vaccinations are available through the NHS and others are private. A provider should explain availability and charges before treatment. Certain destinations require proof of vaccination, and only authorised centres can issue some certificates.

Travel health beyond vaccinations
Depending on destination, advice may cover malaria prevention, mosquito and tick-bite avoidance, food and water safety, travellers’ diarrhoea, sun and heat, altitude, animal bites, carrying medicines and travel insurance.
