Private, clinician-led weight support

Weight Management Consultation Leeds

A weight management consultation is a private clinical conversation about your health, goals and suitable support. It does not guarantee a prescription or any particular treatment.

An online request is not a confirmed clinical appointment. The pharmacy will confirm eligibility, availability and any charges before treatment.

What is a weight management consultation?

Weight can be influenced by eating patterns, physical activity, sleep, medicines, health conditions, mental wellbeing, disability, hormones and life circumstances. A consultation looks at the whole picture rather than making assumptions based on appearance or one measurement.

The clinician can help set realistic health goals, discuss food and activity changes, identify factors that may need GP review and explain suitable support pathways. This page promotes the consultation, not a prescription-only medicine.

What the clinician may assess

The consultation may cover:

  • Height, weight, body mass index and waist measurement where appropriate
  • Blood pressure and relevant medical conditions
  • Current medicines, allergies and previous approaches to weight management
  • Eating patterns, activity, sleep, alcohol and smoking
  • Pregnancy, breastfeeding, plans for pregnancy and contraception where relevant
  • Mental wellbeing, eating-disorder symptoms and the support available to you

Safe, realistic weight management

The NHS recommends gradual, sustainable changes such as a balanced diet, reducing excess calories, regular activity and realistic goals. Small reductions in weight can improve health for some people, but targets should reflect your starting point and medical needs.

Some people need support from a GP, dietitian, specialist weight management service or another clinician. Any prescription-only option requires an individual assessment, appropriate prescribing and ongoing supervision; it is never guaranteed by booking this consultation.

When another service may be more suitable

Tell the clinician if you may have an eating disorder, are pregnant or breastfeeding, have significant mental-health concerns, take medicines that affect weight, or have symptoms of an underlying condition. These factors may require GP or specialist support.

The consultation should support informed choices without pressure, unrealistic promises, before-and-after comparisons or guaranteed results.

What happens when you book?

When to get urgent help

If weight concerns are linked to fainting, severe dehydration, vomiting blood, immediate risk of self-harm or another emergency, call 999. Contact NHS 111 for urgent medical advice. Speak to a GP if you think you may have an eating disorder.

Frequently asked questions

Does booking guarantee a medicine or prescription?

No. The booking is for a clinical consultation. Any treatment decision depends on individual suitability and professional assessment.

What should I bring?

Bring an up-to-date medicines list and any relevant recent measurements or letters. Be ready to discuss medical history and previous weight support.

Will I be given a guaranteed weight-loss target?

No. Safe goals are individual and should be realistic. The consultation does not promise a particular amount or speed of weight change.

Can the pharmacy work with my GP?

Where appropriate and with the necessary information-sharing arrangements, the pharmacy can recommend GP review or other specialist support.
